Rogersville: Roy E. Morgan, age 93 of Rogersville, departed this life peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 19, 2010 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Hancock Co. and served in the U.S. Army. Returning home from the military, he married Kathleen Leaman. They farmed in Hancock Co. and later moved to a farm in the Webster's Valley area of Hawkins Co. There he and his wife reared a family of seven on a dairy farm. During that time, Mr. Morgan attended Tunnell Hill Baptist Church where he served the church as Sunday School teacher and deacon. Upon retiring from farming, he moved to Main St., Rogersville. He joined First Baptist Church, served in various capacities and was a faithful member of the Berean Sunday School class. He served as president of Hawkins Co. Farm Bureau for twenty seven years and served on Hawkins Co. Memorial Hospital Board of Directors for several years. He was a faithful member of Kiwanis Club as long as he was able to attend. He also helped to establish the Hawkins Farmer's Co-operative. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Joe Morgan (February 19, 2004); parents, Elbert Benjamin "EB" and Sarah Jane Mitchell Morgan; sisters, Vergie Livesay, Mary Brown, Nora Lawson, Elsie Brown and Hazel Riley; brother, Bascom Morgan.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Kathleen Leaman Morgan of the home; daughters, Jane Wallace and husband, Homer of Rogersville, Mary Kate Talbert and husband, Sam of Greensboro, NC; Lena Gray and husband, Lawrence of Rogersville; sons, George Morgan and wife, Kaye of Rogersville, John Morgan of Surgoinsville, Larry Morgan of Rogersville; grandchildren, Cheryl Wallace, Dawn Wallace Adams, Karen Morgan Byington, Amy Gray Curvin, Carol Gray Miller, Andrew, Alex and Grant Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren; special friend, John Curtis, Larry Hagood and Raymond

Absher. Special thanks to Dr. Jose Velasco, Dr. John Acker, the staff of Hometown Healthcare, especially Nicki, Rachel, Debbie and Miles for their excellent care. A heartfelt thanks to his special care giver, Vickie Manis, for her loving care.

Calling hours will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Rogersville First Baptist Church or anytime at the residence at 810 E. Main St., Rogersville.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 22, 2010 at Rogersville First Baptist Church with Rev. James Lindsay and Rev. Roy Wyatt officiating. Eulogy will be given Larry Hagood. Music will be provided by Justin Nelson. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Andrew, Alex and Grant Morgan; grandsons-in-law, Eric Haseltine, Mark Adams, Jason Byington, Ed Curvin, Bob Miller, and Charles Talbert. Honorary pallbearers are teachers and members of Berean Sunday School class and deacons of Rogersville First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church TV Ministry, 119 W. Washington St., Rogersville, TN 37857.
