Bulls Gap: George Edward Richards, age 71 of Bulls Gap, passed away, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader. Mr. Richards was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Holliston Mills. Mr. Richards was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Marie Gulley Richards; parents, John Henry and Riddie Pearl Gilliam Richards; sisters, Nell Fawbush and Elizabeth Collier; brothers, Robert Richards and Paul Richards.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Seay Williams Richards, of the home; daughter, Lisa Ann Gregory and husband Eddie of Rogersville; step daughter, Amy Brown and husband, Phillip of Mooresburg; sisters, Mary Gilliam, Mollie Albright, Alice Mayes, Dorothy Gorbea and Carolyn Ball all of Rogersville; brothers, Doug Richards and Lynn Richards and wife, Maxine all of Rogersville. A number of nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Broome Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 102 Walker Rd., Bulls Gap.
Funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, July 18, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Elder John R. Arnott and Rev. Jamie Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens wth Military Honors provided by the Hawkins County Color and Tennessee Army National Guard.
