Rogersville: Daryl Alvis, age 77, of Rogersville, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a period of declining health. He was a veteran having served with the Big Red 1 in the U. S. Army in Berlin, Germany during the Berlin Crisis. Daryl retired from the International Card and Label Co 30 plus years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Davis and Mayme Minor Alvis; sisters, Phyllis Allen and Maxine Epps; brother, Walter Alvis.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Darla Bailey Alvis; daughter, Leigh Anne Hawkins and husband, Kevin of Kingsport; son, Victor Alvis and wife, Kendall of Colorado Spring, CO; beloved grandsons, Eli Hawkins and Jackson Alvis; sister, Nell Fama and husband, Roy of Ashland, VA; brother, Rudy Alvis and wife, Patty of Surgoinsville; several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the nurses at Kingsport Hematology and Oncology and the 3rd floor of Wilcox Hall at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. A special thanks also to Rhonda and Eugenia.

Visitation hours will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Funeral service will be conducted 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Andy Willis officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Highland Cemetery.
