Joyce Eleanor Churchwell Allen

November 11, 1932 ~ November 24, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Whitesburg: Joyce Eleanor Churchwell Allen, age 85 of Whitesburg, formerly of Rogersville, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.  She was retired from North American Phillips.  Mrs. Allen was saved at an early age and was a member of Spires Chapel Baptist Church. Joyce was a faithful deacon's wife, Godly and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, cherished sister, aunt and friend.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Donald Allen; daughter, Debbie Jo Riggs; parents, George K. and Fanny Lou Lloyd Churchwell; sisters, Wanda Phillips and Irene Pleasant; infant sister, Bettie Lou Churchwell; brothers, William D. Churchwell and Lloyd A. Churchwell.

She is survived by her sons, Mark A. Allen and wife, Judy of Morristown; David L. Allen of Whitesburg; grandchildren; Jason Allen, Christina Allen and Traci Johnson of Morristown; step-grandchildren, Michael Lawson of Whitesburg and Greg Lawson and wife, Jodi of Russellville;  great-grandchild, Karissa Johnson; step-great-grandchild, Orry Lawson; son-in-law, Bobbie Riggs of Morristown;  sister, Velma Walters of London, OH; half-sisters, Annette Bailey and husband, Roger of Cowen, TN and Norma Housewright of Johnson City; half-brothers, Harold Churchwell of Greenville, Ray Churchwell and wife, Vickie of Mt. Carmel, Mike Churchwell and wife, Elizabeth of Johnson City; sister-in-law, Doris Sandige and husand, Bill; brother-in-law, Bill Allen and wife, Loretta; special niece, Karen Cook; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Spires Chapel Baptist Church, Hwy 70 N, Rogersville, TN.
 
Funeral service will be conducted 7:00 P.M., Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Spires Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. John North and Rev. Earnest Davis officiating.  Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 27, 2017 at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
