Mildred Fairchild Wattenbarger

February 21, 1935 ~ January 20, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Rossville, GA:  Mildred Fairchild Wattenbarger, 82, of Rossville, GA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in a local health care facility.  Mrs. Wattenbarger had lived the past six years in Rossville with her late husband Reverend Warren Wattenbarger and previously lived in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia as a minister’s wife in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church for over 60 years.  Her passions in life were God, her family, spending time socially with the ladies of the church, and she also enjoyed sewing.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Reverend Warren Wattenbarger; parents, John and Arthena Fairchild of Rogersville; brothers, Joe, Ralph, and Hugh Fairchild.

 Survivors include her children, Kathy Diane (Terry) Martin of Johnson City, TN and Mark Wattenbarger of Rossville, GA; five grandchildren, Kristan Montey, Christopher Martin, Molly Martin, Gray Wattenbarger, and Leigh Fairchild Hollingsworth; siblings, Lowell Fairchild, Bea (Bill) Winstead, Ginny (Larry) Stapleton, and Arnold (Laura) Fairchild; and thirteen nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of NHC of Rossville, the staff of Caris Hospice, and to Lesley Gayton for her in home care of Mrs. Wattenbarger.

Visitation hours will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Harr officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery
