ANITA CLARK Obituary

Anita C. Clark, 91, Kingsport, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Anita, Mom, Mama, Mommom or Mrs. Clark as she was known to those who loved her, was a devoted and faithful wife, a loving and supportive mother, a caring and generous grandmother and great grandmother.  Anita loved life and was passionate about her family and her faith.  She was an amazing bright light in so many lives.

Born in Havana, Cuba in 1932, Anita was the only child to the late Mario Contreras and Enriquetta Peres Galle Contreras. Anita grew up in Havana, Cuba and was educated at Mercy Academy. She married the love of her life, Lucas Antonio Clark Jr in 1955 and they shared an amazing life and love together for 57 years.  In October, 1960 Anita and Lucas left communist Cuba and moved to the United States to experience freedom and a better life for their family. Here, Anita experienced the many joys of raising a family free of oppression and was loved and admired for her strength and fortitude by both family and her many friends.

She is preceded in death by both her mother and father, as well as her husband, Lucas.  Anita is survived by her four loving children, Lucas A. Clark III, Juan (John) Mario Clark (Etta), Charles Edward Clark (Cheryl) and Anne Marie Clark Hoffman (Larry).  She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Lucas A. Clark IV (Brittany), Lisa Catherine Clark, Michael William Clark (Katie), Alexandra Clark Dillie (Scott), Haley Clark Bird (Richard), Cela Clark, and Charelzie Clark. She also had six great grandchildren, Quinn Clark, Juliette Clark, Scarlett Clark, Collette Clark, Sophia Mae Clark, and Clark Emerson Dillie,

 

A memorial mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 100 Harbor Drive in Key Biscayne, FL, to be announced at a later date.  The family wishes to send their appreciation to the staff at Preston Place, especially April See, and her special caregiver, Connie Brickey and the staff at the Village at Allandale for their loving care. Special thanks also to Father Michael Cummings and Anne Vachon of St. Dominic Catholic Church for their faithful devotion over the past twelve years.
