Rogersville: Delbert Ray Baxter, age 94, of Rogersville, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center after an extended illness. He received Christ as his personal savior in 1960. He was a veteran, having served during World War II with the U.S. Navy. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents William M. and Essie Elliott Baxter, sisters, Virginia Lantz, Helen Moore, Edna Frances Morrison and Evelyn Baxter; brother, William Eugene Baxter; half-sister, Mildred Baxter and grandson, Nathan Keller.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Ida McAatee Baxter; daughter, Julie Kay Keller and husband, John of Jefferson City; sons, Michael Ray Baxter of Butner, NC and Rodney Alan Baxter of Rogersville; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be 1:00 P.M.to 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 10, 2019 at Broome Funeral Home Rogersville.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 10, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kevin Wisecarver officiating. Burial will follow in Otes United Methodist Church Cemetery.
