James "Tobe" Laster

Rogersville: James E. "Tobe" Laster, age 90 of Rogersville, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Signature HealthCARE of Rogersville.  He was retired from the Hawkins County Highway Department after 21 years of service.  Mr. Laster was a member of Persia United Methodist Church.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.  Mr. Laster was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Marie Brummitt; sons, David Laster and John James Edgar Laster; parents, John and Willie Greene Laster; brothers, Calvin Laster, Franklin Laster and Charles Laster; half-sister, Zora Greene.

He is survived by his daughters, Judy Ann Walker and husband, Harold of Rogersville and Janie Ruth Berger of Roanoke, VA; son, Donald L. Laster and wife, Kathy of Wytheville, VA; grandchildren, John Allen Laster, Donna Sue Woods, Justin Walker and Andrew Laster and wife, Allison; great-grandson, Ethan Andrew Laster; daughter-in-law, Helen Laster; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Persia Community Cemetery with Chaplain Greg Graybeal and Rev. Charles Heck officiating.  With military honors provided by the Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard.  Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
