Leroy S. Klepper

November 23, 1926 ~ September 17, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Rogersville: Leroy S. Klepper, age 90, of Rogersville,  died Sunday, September 17, 2017, surrounded by his family at his residence following an extended illness. He was a member of Hickory Cove Missionary Baptist Church since 1938, was ordained as a deacon in 1951 until his death and served as treasurer from 1954-2015. Leroy was employed by IPP & AU at Pressmen's Home, Holston Defense (1967-1989) and the Romoco Farm Store. Mr. Klepper was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II.  Leroy was a member of Overton Lodge No. 5 F. & A.M. since December of 1949, a Scottish Rite Mason since 1952, a member of Kerbela Shrine and a charter member of Jericho Temple since 1976. Mr. Klepper was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Maggie Price Klepper; sister, Louise Byrd.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Volena Burdine Klepper of the home; daughters, Gena G. Davis and husband, Ira of Rogersville and Lesa K. Klepper of Savannah, GA; grandsons, Wesley Douglas McBrayer and wife, Carmon and Brandon Leroy McBrayer; great grandchildren, Shaelyn J. McBrayer and Cruz Mason McBrayer; sister, Mary Elizabeth Bell of Rogersville; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Calling hours will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.  Masonic funeral rites will be performed by Overton Lodge No. 5 F. & A.M. prior to the funeral service.

Funeral service will be conducted at  8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tommy Seals and Rev. Steve Holt officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at  McKinney Cemetery with military honors provided by Hawkins County Color Guard and the U.S. Navy.
