M.C. Rogers

Surgoinsville:  M.C. Rogers, age 91 of Surgoinsville, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017, at Asbury Place at Kingsport.  He retired from Holston Glass Co. as senior vice-president.  Mr. Rogers was a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years.  He was a member of the Ruritan Club and a past president of the East Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Mr. Rogers was a mason and 50 year member of Overton Lodge No. 5 F. & A.M.  He was a dedicated Christian who married the love of his life.  He loved his sons, his grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Evalena Price Rogers; parents, Jeff and Lana Horton Rogers; sister, Elizabeth Watts; brothers, Claude D. Rogers and T.J. Rogers.

He is survived by sons, Roger Dale Rogers and wife, Melinda of Kingsport, Morris "Moose" Rogers and wife, Doris of Surgoinsville; grandchildren, Benjamin Rogers and wife, Becky of Nashville, Sarah Johnson and husband, Jason, Morissa Diamond and husband, Glenn, all of Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Preston Diamond, Jack Diamond, Eli Johnson, Morrison C. Diamond and Hannah Johnson; several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank all the staff at Asbury Place for the loving care and attention they provided.

Visitation hours will 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.  Masonic funeral rites will be performed by Overton Lodge No. 5 F. & A.M. prior to the funeral service.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, September 17, 2017, in the funeral home with Rev. Steve McKinney officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
