(Mary) Kathleen H. Fields

Rogersville: (Mary) Kathleen  H. Fields, age 91, of Rogersville died on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  She was born in Hancock County, Tennessee in 1927 and moved to Hawkins County in 1930.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was also a wonderful cook who enjoyed feeding others at her kitchen table over many years.  Kathleen was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

Education was one of her passions and she became a teacher after attending Lincoln Memorial University, East Tennessee State University and Milligan College.  She enjoyed teaching for many years at Cold Springs, Shiloh, Fisher’s Creek, High Point, Surgoinsville Elementary, Rock Hill and Rogersville Middle School. She also proudly worked in adult education for many years.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Pleas Fields, her parents Christopher Columbus (“CC”) and Cosby Templeton Hurd, sons Otis Leroy Fields and Garry Don Fields, brothers Wayman (Maude), Elmer (Lona), Neil (Frances), Ralph (Beulah), Carl, and Quenton (Nola), sisters, Ethel Willis (Claude), Alma Shanks (Earl), Beulah Fuller (Andy) and Olene Daugherty (Charlie).

She is survived by her son Larry (Connie) Fields, daugher-in-law Judy Day Fields, grandsons Jonathon Fields, Travis Fields, and Hunter Fields, several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Eulah Hurd; brother Charles (Willard) Hurd.  The family would like to thank the staff of Signature Lifestlyes and Signature HealthCARE of Rogersville for the care and kindness given to Kathleen.

Visitation hours will be 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville with a special eulogy being delivered by Kathleen’s dear friend Martha Stooksbury.  

Graveside service will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Highland Cemetery. Family and dear friends will serve as pallbearers.
