William "Bill" Lawson Obituary

Atlanta, GA: William Henry Lawson, 78, a resident of Atlanta Georgia, formerly of Rogersville, passed away October 15, 2018.  William “Bill” Lawson was born in Rogersville, Tennessee November 20, 1939.  After graduating from High School, he joined the United States Army and served from 1958–1961. Upon leaving the Army, he attended and graduated from East Tennessee State University (B.S. cum laude, 1965). Mr. Lawson received a Master Degree in Finance (M.B.A., with honors, 1968) from Georgia State University and his law degree from the University of Georgia (J.D., cum laude, 1971).  Mr. Lawson was a distinguished attorney in Atlanta. He began is legal career with the firm of Stack & O’Brien (1971-1975). After leaving Stack & O’Brien, he formed his own firm of Lawson and Davis where he was the senior/managing partner until his retirement in 2007. Mr. Lawson missed practicing law and formed the law firm of Lawson & Moseley. In 2013 the law firm dissolved and since retirement was of no interest, he formed the law firm of William H. Lawson, LLC where he continued to practice until his death.  Mr. Lawson was a member of Beta Gamma Signa and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. Mr. Lawson was also a longtime member of the Druid Hills Golf Club.Mr. Lawson is preceded in death by his father and mother Deward and Mary Lawson and brother Charles Wiley Lawson.

Mr. Lawson is survived by his son, William D. Lawson (Kelli) of Tybee Island, Georgia.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill Chapel, 1020 Spring Street, NW, Atlanta, Georgia with Rev. Dr. Laurence McCullough officiating.  

Mr. Lawson will be returned to Rogersville for burial.

Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Lawson Family Cemetery, Old Stage Rd., Rogersville with military honors provided by the Hawkins County Color Guard and TN Army National Guard.  Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
