Willie Etta Newberry

Rogersville: Willie Etta Newberry, age 88, of Rogersville, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at her residence after a period of declining health. She was a member of Tunnell Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Newberry was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Newberry; parents, Leonard and Birdie Yount; grandson, Sean Luke; brothers, Horace Yount, Leonard (June) Yount, Jr., Billy Wayne Yount, Eugene (Hughy) Yount and Bernie Yount; son-in-law, Marty Lyons.

Survivors include her daughters, Connie Crawford and husband, Lynn and Tammie Lyons-Hedge and husband, Bob; grandchildren, Matthew Lyons, Josh Crawford, Amy Griffen and husband, Frank, Samantha Lyons and Mikaya Lyons; adopted grandchildren, Brett Davis and Melena Smith; great-grandchildren, Haley, Bryonna and Frank Griffen; several nieces and nephews.  

Thank you to Melena for doing Mamaw's hair and makeup during this time.  Special thanks to Heather Bibbins for being Mom's caregiver for the last four years.  You have always showed her so much love and cared for her as if she were your own Mamaw. Thank you to hospice for all the special care shown to Mom and especially to Callie. The family loves and appreciates all you have done for Mom.  You are one in a million.

Visitation hours will be 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Tunnell Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Tunnell Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Tunnell Hill Cemetery.

Because Mom loved giving to Shriners and St. Jude Children's Hospitals, the family request memorials be made to one these charities.
