BARBARA J. MALPAS

Surgoinsville: Barbara Malpas, 83, of Surgoinsville, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, at NHC Healthcare, Greenville, SC after a period of declining health. Barbara was born in Cadwell, Georgia and graduated Cadwell High School as Salutatorian of her class. She started her career at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA. Barbara (B.J.) loved cooking and had a passion for helping and serving others. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and was always dedicated to her church.

She was married to the love of her life, George, for over 60 years. She was a member of  Rogersville Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Presbyterian Women's organization. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband George Malpas, daughter Robin Malpas, parents, Jim and Myrtle Boone Smith, sister Jean Smith.

She is survived by her daughter Kim Bright and husband Jimmy of Mauldin, SC, son Jim Malpas and wife Karen, grandchildren, Thomas Malpas, Katherine Malpas and Sarah Malpas, all of Thompson's Station, TN, Tyler Sanders of  White Bear Lake, MN, Erin Allen and husband Josh, great-granddaughter Carsyn Allen, all of Williamston, SC, sister Libby Price of Warner Robins, GA.

Visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the Broome Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the chapel with Pastor Brad Terry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in McKinney Cemetery.
