Cary Clay Lewis Barton, 75, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Cary was saved at a young age and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville where she was known for her hats. Cary was a member of Mary Amis Rogers D.A.R., American Legion Post 21 and the TN Veterinarian Assoc. Cary was a licensed Veterinarian Technician and worked for Dr. Tom Slaughter, DVM for many years. She married the love of her life, Larry and they lived happily on their cattle farm. Cary was preceded in death by her husband Larry Barton, parents, Mary Clay and Richard C. Lewis II, brothers-in-law, Larry Mullins, Ron Gibbons and Donnie Barton.
She is survived by siblings, CAPT. Richard C. Lewis III USN (Ret.), Katherine Gibbons, Christine Mullins and Martha Hampton(Steve), nieces and nephews, Emily Golden (Geremy), Stephanie Sorrell, Elizabeth Lawson (Johnathan),Thomas Hampton, Richard Lewis IV (Mallory), Robert Lewis, Kendrick Mullins, great nieces and nephews, Briana Redding (Ben), Keaton Lawson, Kenner Golden and Lakin Lawson, great-great niece Matney Redding, sister-in-law Kaye Tipton (Tony), and her faithful companions, Moonshine and Hoolie. A special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
Visitation hours will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in the chapel of Broome Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at New Providence Presbyterian Cemetery with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating.
