Dana Boyd Obituary

Eidson: Dana L. Boyd, age 69, of Eidson, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Dana was born May 26, 1949, in Gary, IN. She attended Merrillville High School, Wisconsin State University in Whitewater, WI, and was a 1972 graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. For 15 years Dana taught in various schools in FL and had an article published in an educational journal. Dana married Robert Boyd in 1971. In 1997, Dana and Bob moved to TN and fell in love with the people and the East TN mountains. Mrs. Boyd was a member of Rogersville First United Methodist Church where she served in several capacities. Dana focused on loving people and reaching out to the community, including Manna Kitchen and the Benevolence Program. She was the co-founder of Finding Freedom. Mrs. Boyd served a term as board member Of One Accord Ministry and coordinator of Appalachian Service Project. Dana was also coordinator for Clinch Community Project. Her passion was being a prayer warrior and serving in outreach programs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Justin and Iva Lou Sichling Rogers.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bob Boyd; daughter, Shelly Boyd Mattingly and husband, Tim of Eidson; precious grandson, Justin Boyd and girlfriend, Jena Hamilton, both of Eidson; step-grandson, Ryan Mattingly of Sweetwater, TN; sister, Debra Livingston and husband, David and their daughter, Ellen Livingston, all of Alexandria, VA; brother, Dennis Rogers and wife, Patti Berry of Havana, FL.
Visitation hours will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Rogersville First United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Rogersville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Paul Humphrey officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 17, 2018, at McKinney Cemetery.
