Emma C. Dykes, age 89, of Rogersville, passed away Wednesday evening, May 15, 2024, at her residence after a period of declining health. She was a faithful member of New Hope Christian Church. Emma was retired as a Chemical Operator with Holston Defense. She was a meticulous homemaker and was well known in the community for her green thumb, great baking skills, and her willingness to help others in their time of need. Emma adored her family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Merabie O'Quinn Clevinger, sister Jeanette Ledford, brothers, Ralph, Lester, Billy, and Garnie Clevinger.
Survivors include husband Rholan Dykes, daughters, Rhonda Rivette and Diane Price (J.R.), all of Rogersville, Sheila Barnett of Kingsport, grandchildren, Khris Horn, Jake Gibson, Andy Price, sister Judy Murray of Phoenix, AZ, brothers, Paul Clevinger (Glenda), Wayne Clevinger (Brenda) and Rocky Clevinger (Betsy), all of Rogersville, Arvil Clevinger of Grundy, VA and Junior Clevinger of Clintwood, VA. She is survived by her great-grandson Seth Gibson who was the son she never had, numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Bella. A special thank you to Sandy Deel Birch, Nurse Callie Peterson with Amedisys Hospice, and Ann Clevinger for taking such good care of Emma.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2024, in the Broome Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2024, in the chapel with Rev. Charles Reece and Rev. Roy Row officiating.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Highland Cemetery.
