George L. Brooks, age 95, of Rogersville, passed away April 9, 2025, at his residence following a period of declining health. He was a faithful member of East Rogersville Baptist Church. George retired from the banking industry after 42 years of service. He was Executive Vice President for Citizen Union Bank. After his retirement, he continued as a bank director and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather always showing compassion, honor, and integrity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Lida Mae Wright Brooks, sisters, Alma and Kathleen Brooks, brothers, Mack and Robert Brooks, and daughter-in-law Shelia Henegar Brooks.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 74 years, Jean Perry Brooks, sons, Danny L. Brooks (Sheila), Thomas Brooks (Regina), all of Rogersville, grandchildren, Alison Smith (Jason), Alissa and Andrea Brooks, Joshua Brooks (Hope), Adam Brooks (Mikala), great-grandchildren, Malachi, Nehemiah, Ezra, and Maisie Brooks, several nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thank you to his caregivers, Tina, Julie, and Crystal.
Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025, in the Broome Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating.
Interment will follow in the McKinney Cemetery.
