Judy Linkous Hunley, age 63, of Surgoinsville, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center following a hard- fought battle with cancer. Judy was member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she was saved at an early age. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. To have known her was to love her. Judy graduated in the last class of Surgoinsville High School in 1979 and was voted most athletic. She was preceded in death by her father Billy Gaines Linkous and best friend Wendy Greene.
Survivors include her son Mitch Hunley (Jacquline), mother Shirley Linkous-Troxell (Ranny) of Surgoinsville, grandchildren Jacob and Alayna Hunley, brothers Michael Linkous (Joyce), Billy Ray Linkous (Frances) all of Surgoinsville and Bryan Linkous of Kingsport, several nieces and nephews, two godsons, Chuck Kelly and Levi Morgan, special friends, Pam, Regina, Gwen, Sharon, and Angel. A special thank you to the staff of the 3rd and 7th floors of Johnson City Medical Center.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. Sunday, March 23, 2025, in the Broome Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Billy Ray Linkous and Rev. Billy Ray Courtney officiating.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2025, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. For those that wish to attend the graveside service please meet at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2025.
Judy was an avid Tennessee Vol fan of all sports and we ask that you wear your favorite Tennessee orange to the funeral and graveside service as we celebrate her life.
