Jimmy R. Bruner, 87, and Lena Mae Bruner, 80, both of Rogersville, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, at their residence.
Jimmy and Lena were married 60 years. Jimmy was a U.S. Army Veteran and later retired from Kingsport Press after 37 years of service. Lena Mae enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Together they farmed and grew tobacco for many years. The love Jimmy and Lena Mae shared was one described by their grandchildren as inseparable, and one would not survive without the other.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Roberta Bruner, sisters, Joyce Goins and Christine Bruner, brothers, Carl and Delbert Bruner, daughter-in-law Leslie Bruner.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Virginia Alvis, brothers, Bleve and Earl Alvis, Robert Alvis, Jr., and daughter-in-law Leslie Bruner.
Jimmy and Lena are survived by son, Jimmy Wayne Bruner, grandchildren, Kasey(Bryan)Roy, Jaime (Lance)Banks, and Kristina(Adam)Jones, great-grandchildren, Jasper Roy, Kimberly Bruner, Damion Belknap, Christian Bocock, Kolby Jones, Brylee and Bradlee Roy, and William Banks, Lena's sister Della Ruth Lawson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the chapel of Broome Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Pinner officiating.
Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Military honors provided by Hawkins County Color Guard and TN Army National Guard. For those that wish to attend the graveside service please meet at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m.
