John "Sammie" Woods, Jr.

Rogersville:  John "Sammie" Woods, Jr., age 70, of Rogersville, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022.  He attended Keplar Missionary Baptist Church.  Sammie was retired from Dodge following 30 years of service.  He was a member of Overton Lodge No. 5 F. & A.M..  Sammie loved to hunt and fish with his three beloved dogs Spot, Buck and Ringo.  Sammie was preceded in death by his parents John Samuel "J.S." Woods, Sr. and Norma Jean Mowl Woods, sister Peggy Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Kaye Hobbs Woods, daughter Samantha Woods Edwards and husband Chad of Paris, TN, grandsons Cole Edwards and Logan Samuel Edwards of Paris, TN, sisters Judy Trent and husband Bruce and Melissa Woods, brother Billy D. Woods and wife Christy all of Rogersville, several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Silver Angels and Ballou Barrett at Amedisys Health Care.

Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Woods Family Cemetery, 359 Luster Rd., Rogersville.  Masonic graveside rites will be performed by Overton Lodge No. 5 F. & A.M.  Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45
