Bessie Katherine Hodge Brantley passed away peacefully on September 21st, 2024, after a brief illness. Katherine grew up in Rutledge, TN, and was saved at an early age at Prospect Baptist Church of Bean Station. Katherine worked over 30 years as store manager for various By-Lo Markets across Grainger County where she became lifelong friends with many of her co-workers and customers. Katherine is preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Ruth Hodge and brother Raymond Hodge.
Katherine is survived by special friend and loving caregiver Earl Horton; sister Bertie Howerton; brother John (Woneta) Hodge; step-daughters, Diane (Tim) Jones and Evelyn (Gale) Perry; nieces, Patricia (Earl) Watson, and Sonya (Blu) Evans; nephews, Larry (Lisbeth) Howerton, Terry (Jean) Howerton, Scott (Jamie) Hodge, John Mark (Amber) Hodge; special great-niece Ava Kathryn Evans; best friend Nola Hickey; and several other beloved family and friends. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of Caris Healthcare of Greeneville for their compassionate care.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Helton Cemetery, Bean Station with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Howerton, Terry Howerton, Earl Watson, Scott Hodge, John Mark Hodge, and Blu Evans. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the graveside service.
