Lawrence "Larry" P. Hurley, age 51, of Bulls Gap, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Ballad Health Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a 1993 graduate of Cherokee High School and currently employed by Appalachian Metals. Larry was previously employed at TRW. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Harvey and Gertrude Hurley and maternal grandparents Earl and Doug Roark.
Survivors include parents Lawrence and Susie Hurley of Bulls Gap, son Kingston Rhea of Whitesburg, sister Trish (Jim) Cotten of Bulls Gap, nephews, Avery Cotten and girlfriend Brittany and Seth Cotten, special friends, Johnny, Diane, Ashley and Dylan Johnson, as they called him "Uncle Hurley," Jason Lawson, Jerry Brewer, and special companion Molly.
Family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the chapel of Broome Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Keith Williams and Rev. Danny Trent officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
