Mark Daniel Horton, age 57, of Kingsport, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, after a brief illness. He retired as an audiovisual technician from a number of tv, music, and movie production companies. He had various roles in well known films such as Anne Rice’s Interview With A Vampire (alongside Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt) and the movie, Candyman. During his tenure as an audiovisual technician, Mark developed relationships with numerous artists, singers and actors. Mark was an avid Star Wars fan, creative writer, and he loved his precious Boston Terriers. He was a visionary, full of wanderlust. Mark will be remembered for his larger than life personality, his ability to maintain lasting relationships, his willingness to love without judgment, and his capacity for forgiveness was endless. Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Daniel E. and Marie Blackburn, paternal grandparents George W. and Lelia Horton, brother-in-law Tim Ryan and special friend and roommate Billy R. Kennedy.
Survivors include his mother Gloria (Sonny) Culver, father George W. Horton, sisters, Laura (Allen) Evans and Susan Ryan, all of Rogersville, niece Leah Ryan and nephew Colin Ryan.
Receiving of friends will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in the chapel of Broome Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Keith Osborne officiating.
