Rogersville: William Edwin Hockett, III, age 73, of Rogersville, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Greeneville Community Hospital East after a brief illness. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam. William was Past Worshipful Master of Overton Lodge #5 F & AM and selected 2019 Mason of the Year. In 2021, Mr. Hockett was installed as Thrice Illustrious Master of Kingsport Council No.117, Royal and Select Masters. He also served as Junior Warden to Kingsport Commandery No.33, Knights Templar. In March 2022, William received Order of the Silver Trowel. July of 2022, The Gold Award was presented to William Hockett in recognition of his outstanding service in York Rite Masonry by the York Rite Sovereign College of North America. He was a Jericho Shriner and Shrine Legion of Honor of Kingsport. He was a member of House of Refuge, Bremerton, Washington. Mr. Hockett was well known for his countless hours growing and studying bonsai trees. William was preceded in death by his parents William Edwin, II and Helen Perry Hockett, nephew William Johnson, grand niece Chloe Workman, half brother Richard Easton.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Goddard Hockett, daughter Leanne Carol Macias and husband John of LasVegas, NV., sons William Edwin Hockett IV and wife Jessette of Klamath Falls, OR., Brian Curtis Hockett and wife Larissa of Orange County, CA., step sons David Goddard and wife Joanna of Avilla, Indiana, Scott Peck and wife Amy of Brownsburg, Indiana, step daughter Amber Darst and husband Mike of Indianapolis, Indiana, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Jaquilyn Hockett Johnson and husband Larry of Verdon, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 W Faris Rd., Greeneville, SC. 29605, in memory of William Edwin Hockett, III and in honor of Colton Darst.
A Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
